News on Shaftesbury Hall 

A public meeting was held at the The Riverside Community Church, Russell Road, Palmers Green on the 16th August 2016 to update local residents on progress towards the rebuilding of Shaftsbury Hall. The meeting also aimed to seek views on the planning application to demolish and rebuild the hall.


The meeting commenced with a presentation which covered the following areas. 

1. Description of the work of the Samaritans

2. Rebuilding proposals and reason for new planning application

3. Funding/lottery bid

4. Risk from squatters

5. Timetable 

6. Questions 

Our timetable is as follows 

  • Lottery grant stage 2 news – Sept 2016 
  • Lottery grant stage 3 evaluation and additional fund raising Oct – Jan 2017 
  • Building starts Sept 2017 – earlier if possible

Khoros choir feb 2018

You’re warmly invited to a concert in support of North London Samaritans. 

On Saturday 24th February at 7.30, Khoros (conducted by Patrick Allies) will perform renaissance music at St. Katherine Cree church in the City of London.  Please come and hear wonderful music in this beautiful setting, and help North London Samaritans to keep providing our valuable service.

Big Lottery update

Big Lottery funding helps secure our future


NLS has been given a grant of £545,000 by Big Lottery to rebuild Shaftesbury Hall to provide a centre for Samaritans’ volunteers and a new public facility for local people.

The charity now needs help from local businesses, trusts and individuals to raise £110,000 in the next 6 months to complete the project.
